National Physical Laboratory trusts Indentec for standardizing hardness testers

Indentec Hardness Testing Machines Ltd, UK – an 100% own company by the Zwick Roell Group, supplies the following premium class standardizing hardness testers.

  • Standardising hardness tester for combined Rockwell and superficial Rockwell hardness tests – model 8150TKS
  • Standardising hardness tester for micro Vickers and knop tests – model ZHVµSS
  • Standardising Vickers hardness tester – model 5030TKVS
  • Standardising low load Brinell hardness tester – model 9187.3LKBS

The test force accuracy of the models 8150TKS,5030TKVS and 9187.5LKBS is 0.1% where force accuracy of micor vickers machine is 0.1% for the load range of 200 grams to 2 kgs and 0.5% for the load range from 10 to 100 grams. The ZHμ.HD software, offered with Micro Vickers, Vickers and Brinell hardness testers, also offered a number of attractive features including: the reliability of automatic measurement on extremely variable surface finishes, sample scanning facility; ease of use and intuitive access to software functionalities. The use of such automatic measurement software removes operator influence from the indentation measurement process and significantly reduces measurement uncertainty.

The Rockwell hardness tester has an unique nose mounted indenter which allows accessibility on difficult to reach test areas.  In addition it has a depth measurement resolution of 10nm with equated to 0.01 superficial Rockwell point.

The National Physical Laboratory is the National Metrology Institute of India and a Premier Research Laboratory in the field of Physical Sciences. The National Physical Laboratory was conceptualized in 1943 by the Governing Body of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), with a view to pave way for using science and technology as means for industrial growth and development, as well as to give fillip to the fledgling Indian industry.

Centre for Calibration & Testing (CFCT) Section of NPL is providing calibration and testing services and acts as an interface between all the calibrating & testing groups of CSIR-NPL with nearly 3200 customers from industries, various laboratories and government organizations from all over the country and abroad.

We are proud to say that National Physical Laboratory has placed its trust in us and procured the above hardness standardizing machines.

The machines were supplied with suitable UKAS accredited Indenters and test blocks compliant with the relevant ISO and ASTM standards.  Indentec’s UKAS certificate and schedule of accreditation can be reviewed at http://www.indentec.com/en/accreditation.html
